The sapling of DAV was sown in may 1986 AD. It is the Pioneer and premier Institute of Hamirpur. In a due span of time DAV Hamirpur has made its authentic presence not in Hamirpur but in all Himachal.
The school has the rare distinction of celebrating its Silver Jubilee ceremony. The school is affiliated to CBSE New Delhi and managed by DAV CMC New Delhi. In Hamirpur it is being looked after by LMC, distinguished and qualified Principal and dedicated staff.
Initially classes were started in a rented building up to V standard at main bazaar Hamirpur. After that it never looked back and progressed with untiring efforts of both Delhi and school management. Later on senior classes 6th to 12th were shifted to newly constructed building at Salasi, Hamirpur in November 1995 and 1st batch of class XII was passed out in 1997.
Aim and Policy: DAV School stands for imparting good moral and quality education and for holistic development of children and the realization of their potentiality to the maximum extent. Here education means all round development, the fact is always kept in mind that is why DAV Hamirpur is ‘a school with a difference’ and its students excel in every field.
Its Alumni is very talented. Many of its students have acquired apex positions in both India and abroad. It feels proud to say that year after year maximum numbers of its students are selected in various medical, engineering, NDA and other professional colleges. Its Alumni list runs in thousands and in some cases first generation of old alumni have come here as students/teachers.
The school has produced excellent results in board as well as competitive exams. At State and National level and the performance is improving year after year. The school will have a big canteen, a big book shop, a multi gym,Yagya Shala big playground, toy train for tiny-tots etc.
Activities apart from traditional courses the school lays emphasis on all round development of the students. Extra co-curricular activities such as debates, drama, recitation, essay competition, songs, dances, cursive writing, sports, celebration of national and religious festivals are also given equal importance. Art and craft, music, yoga, karate, mass display of fitness are included in the curriculum. The children are offered ample opportunities for learning by doing. The child’s individual progress is monitored closely with the eye of CCE(Continuous & Comprehensive Evaluation). On frequent occasions its own band display performance caters to the need of children. We have four Houses Viz. BOSE, DAYANAND, HANSRAJ AND SHIVAJI. Each house is headed by an Incharge and house captain. Inter house competitions are organised in sports, cultural programmes, creative work, quiz and academics. Cultural activities are streamlined in order to awaken the sense of pride for our motherland.
